He said “Two substantial brewery related machines being hauled from the railroad offload site to the brewery property at the end of February 1958. The machine in the foreground is a Meyer Cataract Pasteurizer that bathes the full bottles in 160 degree F water to prepare for shelf storage while awaiting purchase. The machine in the background is a four compartment bottle washer. Also pictured is a metal plate that was likely on this pasteurizer. You can read the Blade article related to this photo here.”

Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Opener
Paul Wiese posted this photo on May 5, 2014 in the Facebook Group “You know you are from Sebewaing, MI when …”. He said “Diamond Anniversary opener from the Sebewaing Brewery given to me from my brother in-law last year. Pretty cool. Notice that it’s made in Italy.”

Kristi Kusek Nazdrowie should be “nazdrovie” since they wrote it out phonetically and Cead Mile Pailte should be “Cead mile Failte”. But I love the attempt.
Mark W Rummel Great find, Paul. We had one of those when I was a kid. Wonder whatever happened to it??
Scott M. Thede Here is a nice article from the Sebewaing Blade about the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary. The article is dated 10/29/55. Please visit this link to read it.
Mark W Rummel Great story from Oct. 29, 1955. Thanks so much for sharing it, Scott. It was written by my dad as Sebewaing Blade publisher with help from Art Mast, Otto Thede and other brewery people. What a wonderful asset that brewery was to our little town.
Oh yes, our family had one of those aluminum bottle openers, too, in the 1960s or so.
Thank you to Paul Wiese for this post and all of those who took the time to comment in Facebook.
Sebewaing Beer Truck

“Today’s “Photo from CBWing’s Past” has been stolen from Scott Thede’s wonderful Sebewaing Brewing Company website. It’s a close-up of the 1957-era truck that was so familiar back then, delivering Sebewaing Beer to A & P Stores all over Michigan, plus to local dealers, too.
Here’s where we stole that photo. There are many more for you to enjoy, plus a great Bolzman Family memory page with photos. Enjoy your Easter Week, folks…

Scott M. Thede Thank you Mark! Great pictures from Doug Bolzman.
Sharon J Giroux love it
Julie Wenzel Beuschel Maybe this has been mentioned before, but there is a Sebewaing Beer truck door displayed in “Shooters” restaurant in Pigeon.
Mark W Rummel @Julie, yes there is. It’s a dandy. And to bring that full circle — before it was “Shooters,” that was the newspaper office for “The Progress-Advance” which wife Sally and I ran from 1978 until it was merged with Sebewaing’s “Blade-Crescent” into “The Newsweekly” in 1992 and later. (I know that building very well… ) Newspapers DID have funny names, didn’t they?
Brian K. Schwartz I wonder if my Grandfather, Frank, drove that truck a time or two when he used to work there.
Mark W Rummel Brian, I’m sure he did. I remember your Grandpa very well. Everybody at the Brewery pitched in and did whatever needed to be done.
Thank you to Mark W. Rummel for this post and all of those who took the time to comment in Facebook.
