A seller in Bay City is offering this book, which belonged to the man who worked there so long and even became the Brewmaster. Some of his grandkids and other relatives are members here. It’s priced at a pretty expensive $99 right now — let’s see what it sells for.

Mark W Rummel Jim, it’s usually all different people. I know one person bought many items at the Otto Thede estate sale… this is probably that seller.

Mark W Rummel Good question, Chuck. Was it some malt by-product? I remember farm trucks being parked there, receiving a load of stuff through that chute… Any other ideas??

Shawn W Janke My stepfather (deceased) Ralph Ludwig worked there, and I used to fish the river behind it. I caught more suckers there than anywhere.

Jacklyn Hughes This brings back a lot of memories of riding my bike down to my grandparents house or down to dads barbershop right past the brewery.
it was sad to see it come down.

Thede Answering the question from Chuck Sterling “And, I always wondered, as I now do again, what came out of the square metal chute?” The square chute sat below Mash Tub #1 and was the spent grain chute. The other bin with the cover to the right of the painted pheasant was the malt hopper that attached to the malt elevator.
