Mark W. Rummel posted this photo on March 7, 2016 in the Facebook Group “You know you are from Sebewaing, MI when …”. He said:
“Our Sebewaing Brewery was one of six surviving beer companies in Michigan in 1954, as this ad from the April 16, 1954 Cass City Chronicle shows. Besides ours, two were located in nearby Frankenmuth.”
Here are the comments from the post:
Marie Pangman You are right that there were two in Frankenmuth but one of them is not listed above – Geyer Bros. Frankenmuth Beer. At that time, there was still Busch/Bosch in Houghton, up in the UP. With them, there would still be 9 in MI at that time even though they maybe didn’t participate in the Brewer’s Assn.
Donald Reithel I understand there is a group attempting to revive Sebewaing’s downtown area, maybe a Sebewaing Beer micro-brewery c/b part of the equation?
Mortin Hapcraft Would be popular like all the others in various cities and towns
Thank you to Mark W. Rummel for this post and all of those who took the time to comment in Facebook.
